Sarah Crews Parks is a portrait painter who works in the tradition
of the Old Masters. Her talent for realism is evident in her ability
to capture the sitter’s likeness and her skillful use of light
and shadow. Whether she paints corporate portraits or family portraits,
her goal is to capture the personalities of her subjects with consideration
of the client’s ideas and tastes, so that they can be presented
with a finished work of art that will last for generations.
The artist has had a passion to draw all her life
and as a young adult began to admire portraits painted by Sargent,
Whistler, and others on visits to the major museums
of New York, Philadelphia, London, Paris, Rome and Florence. Sarah
earned two degrees (Magna cum Laude) in Art History and Studio Art
from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
She is grateful to have been able to study with some of today's finest
portrait artists, such as Daniel Greene, Michael
Shane Neil, and Paul McCormack, and mentored
by Bart Lindstrom, Tom Szwec, and Ned Bittinger.
Sarah continually refines her portrait painting technique through
serious and intense study of portraiture, gathering instruction from
classes, workshops, museums, art magazines, and a large array of art
books. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America,
American Society of Portrait Artists, and the Catharine
Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.
